Super Mario Mercedes

You might’ve seen Mario race the GLA to victory in the Japanese TV commercial but now, for the first time in history, the world’s best-known video game character will get to drive real cars – Super Mercedes-Benz cars.

From 27 August, Mario Kart 8players will be able to download three Mercedes-Benz kart cars free of charge. This is the first time in the game's 22 years that car models from the real world will be available to Mario.

Mario will get to drive the GLA in the Nintendo Wii U console racing game, as well as the legendary Mercedes-Benz Silver Arrow W 25 from 1935 and the Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Roadster, one of the world's most coveted and expensive automotive classics.

On the same day, Mario Kart 8players can start competing in the exclusive worldwide online tournament: the 'Mercedes Cup'.

Anyone can take part, but you'll need a Wii U console, the Mario Kart 8game, and a suitable internet connection. Access to the 'Mercedes Cup' in the game can be found via the online tournament section in Mario Kart 8. The 'Mercedes Cup' races will end on 23 September 2014. Highlights featuring the Mercedes-Benz cars can be uploaded via Mario Kart TV and shared with Mario Kart fans all over the world.

With more than 100 million Mario Kart games sold, this series is among the most successful racing games of all time - and like many successful people, we think Mario deserves the upgrade to Mercedes-Benz vehicles too.

This is the first time in the game’s 22 years that car models from the real world will be available to Mario.
